For many years the Sovereign has been the balance used by pharmacies for the weighing of large volumes up to 500g and tobacconists who blend their own tobacco. Of simple construction it is a highly accurate and durable instrument. The Sovereign made today has changed little from the Sovereign of 30 years ago, a beam of aluminium with Swedish steel knives (precision ground to a fine edge), supports specially extruded shackles on high quality "v" agate bearings. Two stainless steel pans one flat with a raised edge the other dished are supported on anodized aluminium pan supports. The whole balance being constructed onto a red laminate covered base board edged in black, with adjustable feet and a sensitive spirit level.
